Introducing Your Little One To Dance...
This class is for PreSchool aged children, aged from 3 years. An introduction to dance, it covers, jazz, ballet & tap styles. The class runs for 45 minutes.
JAZZ / FUNK
Popular & Technique Based
This style of dance is fun and energetic! Galaxy jazz classes incorporate elements of traditional jazz technique and funk. It incorporates unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and lots of turns. For students wishing to excel further in jazz class it is recommended they also take a ballet technique class. This encourages grace and balance and gives them a much stronger basis on which to build this style. Of course this is by no means necessary as the emphasis in this class is on FUN!
High Energy - Freedom of Movement
Hip Hop is a very energetic form of dance. It is unique in that it allows the dancer to perform it with freedom of movement, adding their own personalities. Hip hop developed from several cultures including jazz, rock, tap, and American and Latino cultures. It is also heavily influenced by breakdancing.
THEATRE JAZZ / CABARET
Let's Do Broadway
These classes are a more traditional style of jazz class, along the lines of styles you might see in musical theatre. Recent shows that spring to mind utilising this form of dance are “Singing In The Rain” and “Hairspray”. Dramatic characters are often built and portrayed through the dance. This class develops a much stronger jazz technique style than the jazz/funk class (in which movement is less structured and more free flowing).

Tap dancers use their tap shoes to use their feet like drums, creating amazing rhythmic patterns. It is a great class for encouraging co-ordination skills and can be quite vigorous, improving your fitness levels. Galaxy students have the option of completing examinations from the GLENN WOOD TAP SYLLABUS. This is a separate class and focuses purely on examination work. Galaxy also offers CONCERT TAP classes - for those not interested in completing exams but love their tapping all the same!
Graceful, Elegant, Interpretive
Modern dance is a style that centres more on the dancers interpretation of music and steps, rather than the structured versions utilised in traditional ballet dancing. It involves using the dancers emotions and moods to portray the "story" of the dance. Ballet technique is incorporated into each of our modern classes to ensure the basic skills are built and strengthened.
ACROBATICS, TUMBLING & ACRODANCE
Introducing Gymnastics to Dance
Led by a qualified gymnastics coach, students will learn new skills from cartwheels, to aerials, to walkovers and so much more! Several of our dance teachers are also certified in AcroDance, which works on the more basic gymnastic movements taught in a manner that can see them choreographed gracefully into dance routines.
BARRE ATTACK, PILATES & STRETCH
Dancer's Fitness & Wellbeing
Barre Attack is a low impact, high intensity workout combining the best of all things dance - from standing pilates work, short cardio intervals, to dance moves in a ballet class. The class is accessible for everybody and all levels of fitness. Pilates is a system of exercises designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness. You will love every minute of the classes, and be thankful for the benefits they provide. Great for DANCERS or anyone looking to GET FIT!
